The film was written and directed by Zena AbdelBaky, a young filmmaker born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. The dialogue is in both English and Egyptian Arabic, making it as close to the way westernized young people in this specific social class speak. The inspiration behind this film came from how quickly one jumps to conclusions after meeting a person, never thinking for more than a second that that person might be fighting their own battle, which is true for every single person. This film gives the viewer a chance to forgive the “mean girl” and get an insight to the forces that lead her actions.
